Pierce County ordered the Gateway Inn closed and marked all buildings “Do Not Occupy” after inspections identified unresolved life-safety violations, including dangerous electrical conditions, non-working smoke detectors, unsafe exits, chimney-related smoke and carbon-monoxide risks, and unpermitted construction.
